Behind the Scenes is one of the first series I started for paying subscribers before I had developed series like The Divorce Diaries or Things I Wished I’d Known Before Going Through a Divorce. It is a chance for paying subscribers to discover more of what happens outside of these Substacks, whether it is a book I’m reading, an article I’m noodling on that may appear in an upcoming newsletter, or personal news.
I’m bringing it back this week as a softer entry into this world, post-election.
I also wanted to share a sneak peak of what’s happening on The Mother Lode Chat. I know, who needs another feature from Substack? But the chat is like your friend text thread, just with strangers over the internet! It is ongoing, you can start your own thread by sharing an article you’d love for the hive to mull over, or ask a question. Things like this article from The Wall Street Journal on househusbands or other Substacks that can enhance our own discussions and understanding like this one from
on patriarchal sex. Below are a few screenshots of the types of discussions we’ve been having in the month since I launched the chat.Right now you can’t access the chat feature on your phone unless you have the Substack app. Up until last week, I accessed The Chat on my desktop.1 But either way, if you are looking for a protected way to engage on some of the topics discussed in The Mother Lode, or are looking for advice or counsel from like-minded people (or directly from me!), come on over and join us!
In the meantime, here’s a peak behind the scenes… including the day my divorce finalized!
