Behind the Scenes
Women as ghosts, my interview with Maggie Smith, my favorite part of Mother's Day, and more for paid subscribers
The new issue of Literary Mama just published and in it I have a conversation with Maggie Smith. You can read it here. If you recall, I loved her book and found it incredibly validating (read my post Plot Twists). Our conversation was such a joy and fed my soul in a wonderful way. We discuss writing, marriage, motherhood, and more.
She was also just interviewed by Glennon Doyle on We Can Do Hard Things and their conversation was so juicy. What I couldn’t believe was how much the concept of my book kept coming up. My book is titled: Ghost: On the Self-Erasure of a Woman and man, did they prove my concept has legs. At minute 15:35, Glennon says: “What we are trying to do as women in our forties is just stop being ghosts.”
Maggie responds: “Amen! Yes! Not being invisible anymore or trying to fold ourselves up incredibly small to not get in anyone’s way.”
